That is your conclusion. Not mine. I have enough of a background in software engineering and computer science to know that trying it out is "cheap" and takes far less time that it has taken to discuss it here.

This is my last reply: Your issue is not the 3-5 second pause.
Your issue is elsewhere (ping/storage/something related to those).

I have a background in common sense and common sense says that, if those screens show, it means it is taking longer than it should to load the next area.
Reducing/removing the "pause" won't do anything.

You are looking at the symptom (the loadscreen and pause after passing to another area, in the same dungeon).
I am looking at the root.

Also:
I have them turned off, so I only see black screen. But you had
me bench things -- my I/O is in 99th percentile usually well over
100MB/s. My pings are usually ~ 120-130ms, of which, 50ms is network delay.

100MB/s is actually pretty crappy for a RAID 10 SSD setup.
That's slower than my (dying) HDD.

And what you have "turned off" is not the loadscreens: it's the images.
You used this option in BnSBuddy:

Right--- I am looking at removing the 3-5 second pause that you
reference above.

I am looking at the root.

This is the part you don't get -- I don't care at this point. All
I wanted to try was to remove the 3-5 second pause you reference above.

Why won't you allow me to test that? I don't need to look any further
than that. If it doesn't help. I will not care. I will give up,
because increased time and energy to solve the issue isn't worth it.

You mention the symptom -- a 3-5 second pause (after an image which
doesn't display(?!)). I don't care about anything else other than
removing that 3-5 second pause.

Also:
100MB/s is actually pretty crappy for a RAID 10 SSD setup.

You are not reading. 100MB is not what my read rate is.
Read it again. It says "well over 100MB/s". It's actually
closer to 1.2GB/s. This has nothing to do with the 3-5 second
pause time. How big do you think each incremental area is? The
entire game is less than 3G. To read in 1 area, would be less than
1 second.

And what you have "turned off" is not the loadscreens: it's the images.
You used this option in BnSBuddy:
You mean the one that says fix LOADSCREEN. I used the option on
BnS buddy to fix the loadscreens (that's what it says). I'm calling
it what the interface calls it. It doesn't say "Fix images"

Going back to the top:
You mention a 3-5 second pause after some screens before it loads
the next area. First, the screens don't show, but it does still pause.
I wanted to turn the pause off and not do anything else. So what
if it isn't the root cause, why do you care? So what if I turn it
off and it doesn't do anything -- why do you care?

Why do you care if I want to turn off the pause?
