-no, this will not give any performance boost, only visual.
-yes, big file, but that's where the game read it so not much i can do.
-may or may not need updating in the future, i will check for as long as i play the game.

You should hide all player names in general. I don't see how people can stand that. You cant even see anything when people are bunched together.
Sides hitting Esc shows everyone's names.
